Adverse Credit Loans

Adverse credit loans are a good way of getting funding for short term financial requirements and are immensly popular in the UK. These loans offer instant access to cash without the hassle of providing collateral which makes them a very fast and convenient source of funds. There are a large number of lenders that offer these loans .

The common perception of bad credit history is that the borrower will not be able to find a loan approval. While this has some truth to it, there are a lot of other relevant details which are missing and there are unsecured loans for people with bad credit available

Adverse credit in the UK

Lenders in the UK need to have more business. Since the competition is quite stiff with hundreds of lenders and loan companies offering funds online as well as offline (although less since the recession) it becomes necessary for them to get as much business as possible.

There are a large number of lenders that offer unsecured personal loans to borrowers with adverse credit  just for this reason. Some of the lenders that offer adverse credit loans in the UK  are First Choice, Yes Loans, Provident Personal Credit and Wentworth Direct Finance.

With unsecured loans for adverse and bad credit in the UK , the risk for the lender is undeniably quite high. First, there is no security offered to the lender which means that in the event of payment default, the lender cannot claim a direct charge on any of the assets. With poor credit history loans financing, the lender would be taking a risk offering funds to a borrower who has failed to pay payments in an orderly manner before. There is a high chance that the borrower may not repay the unsecured loan that the lender provides. For this reason, most lenders charge very high interest rates on these loans so that they can recover as much money as possible in the initial few months.

Considering the fact that arranging funds is very difficult for borrowers, adverse credit loans are a good option when you don’t have any other sources of funds to rely on. Another thing that borrowers applying for a bad credit loan should remember is that since they are carrying a high interest rate they should only be used for emergencies. Borrowers must ensure that they are comfortable paying the instalment each month since missing payments or being irregular will only cause further damage to credit history.

To apply for an adverse credit loan in the UK you must be at least 18 years of age, have a valid banking account be a citizen of the UK and have a regular source of income. It is possible to apply for the loan online which  will save a considerable amount of time. The decisions provided by the lenders are fast and upon approval, the funds aretransferred to your bank account.

Bad credit loans are harder to get hold of since the recession

Since the recession in the UK, loans for adverse and bad credit histories are harder to get hold of. Many of the mainstream lenders have pulled out of this part of the market to reduce risk on their loan books. The reduction in  adverse loans since the recession is shown in the left hand chart below. The right hand chart is interesting. It confirms the squeeze on money. As lending falls (left chart) loan rates are rising. Both charts are  from the Financial Times,. For more financial information please visit blogs.ft.com

There are still some specialist lenders around as mentioned within this article who will give loans to those with an undesirable credit history.

In all honesty, an adverse credit score is not a permanent sentence wrapped around your neck. Once you take out a loan and are able to show responsibility in making the loan repayments on time and paying off the loan it will be easier to get larger loans in the future.

Thanks guys, a very good article and nice site on adverse credit. I am a financial blogger and it’s not often that I see detailed articles on the web in the less than perfect credit record sector. All the Best Jared
